 SKA Undergraduate and Honours Bursary Programme for 2017

1. Eligibility for an SKA SA undergraduate or honours bursary
1.1. South African citizens (ONLY).
1.2. Students who wish to study, or are studying, one of the following degrees:
     • Bachelor of Electronic,Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronic or Computer Engineering
     • Bachelor of Science with majors in Mathematics / Applied Mathematics AND Physics  or Bachelor of   Science with majors in Astronomy and Physics 
     • Bachelor of Science - Honours - Physics and Electronics / Astrophysics / Astronomy / Computer       Science
1.3. Students who have achieved a minimum of 60% in Mathematics and Physical Science in Grade 12, or a   minimum average of 60% at an undergraduate level.

UKZN Doctoral Research Scholarship - 2016

Four (4) Doctoral Research Scholarships are available each year in order to encourage research efforts within the University. The value of the scholarships is determined each year and shall be the estimated cost of a year of postgraduate study.
The Richard AD Turner Bursary Fund will provide for a postgraduate scholarship in the “Rick” Turner scholastic tradition of philosophy and political studies. Successful recipients for this award would be postgraduates with demonstrable student leadership credentials as well as some proven involvement in community work in which democratic endeavours are highlighted. The award will support master’s level research which focuses on issues of justice and freedom for all South Africans. The successful “Rick” Turner scholar would be expected to contribute to student leadership while holding the award and his/her field of expertise must be inclined towards trade unionism.

GreenMatter Fellowship Awards - 2016

APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FOR:

GreenMatter Postgraduate Awards for Doctoral study in South Africa in 2016.

A GreenMatter Postgraduate Award will provide holistic support in the form of:
• a cash contribution towards costs of living, study fees, research equipment and research costs
• the opportunity to access mentoring support, career guidance and platforms to engage in learning networks

The 2016 Fellowship call is only inviting applications for the following named awards:

1. The Mapula Foundation Award:
For students wanting to enrol at any South African university to commence PhD studies in 2016. The cash bursary amount is ZAR 120,000 per year. The proposed research topic must address priority management concerns at either the Vhembe or Waterberg Biosphere Reserve and must have a strong applied component. Alternatively, applicants can select one of the identified research topics. Please see guidance notes on the GreenMatter website for more information.

2. The Crossley – University of Cape Town Award:
For students wanting to enrol at the University of Cape Town to commence PhD studies in 2016. The cash bursary amount is ZAR 150,000 per
year. Research focus must align to the GreenMatter priority skills.

3. The Crossley - Stellenbosch University Award:
For students wanting to enrol at Stellenbosch University to commence PhD studies in 2016. The cash bursary amount is ZAR 150,000 per year. Research focus must align to the GreenMatter priority skills.

Are you eligible?
To apply for this programme you must be:
• A South African citizen;
• In possession of a Masters Degree;
• Seeking funding for a full-time doctoral programme at a South African higher education institute; and
• Able to motivate how your study aligns to the identified criteria.

The application process is open from 18 January 2016 to 12 February 2016. The application form and guidance notes will be available on the GreenMatter website.

EMMA SMITH OVERSEAS SCHOLARSHIP - 2016

The scholarship is open to female graduates of any South African university who have been resident or who have had a permanent home in Durban (inclusive of metro boundaries) for a period of at least three years immediately preceding the award.
