DESCRIPTION:We invite you to attend one of our upcoming “Nobel in Africa” Public Lectures.\nThis initiative forms part of the 183rd Nobel Symposium in Physics Outreach Programme, which brings the world’s leading physicists to our shores.  This is the first time that the Nobel Symposium has been held in Africa.\nThe Public Lectures will be held both in person and streamed virtually for those who wish to participate remotely.\nUKZN will be opening its Westville Campus Physics labs to interested individuals and offering guided tours in conjunction with this initiative.\nThe programme offering is as follows:\n\nMonday 31 October | 13h00-14h30\nNeil Turok – “Universe”; and Armita Nourmohammed – “Learning the shape of the protein universe”  (limited in person attendance / unlimited online attendance)\nMonday 31 October | 16h00-17h30\nUKZN School of Chemistry and Physics – Open Labs (in person attendance only).\nMonday 31 October | 18h00-20h00\nMogens Hogh Jensen – “Complexity in Science”; and Angelo Vulpiani –“Predicting the future:  an old problem from a modern perspective” (in person and online attendance available).\nTuesday 1 November | 10h00-12h00\nErik Aurell – “Fluctuation Relations”; and Luca Gammaitoni – “Why it is difficult to find something if you do not know what you are looking for” (in person and online attendance available).\n\n \nThe Nobel in Africa Public Lecture Series is being held on UKZN’s Westville Campus.\nRSVP (for either in person or virtual attendance) is essential.  To rsvp, please click on the link on the relevant poster, as different attendance lists are being kept for each event.\nThese Public Lectures offer a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to interact with some of the leading scientific minds alive today.  We hope you will be able to participate.\nEnquiries: Sally Frost – frosts@ukzn.ac.za | 073 160 1409\n \n>> Download Invite\n
