STEC@UKZN live experiment of the week – Balloon-Powered Car

Join us every week for a short fun science experiment.

This week: In the Balloon-Powered Car, we’ll show you how to build your own racer and then use air pressure to zip it across a surface.

What you will need for this experiment:

• A piece of cardboard  about 7×15 cm e.g. from a box
• A small lid or bottle cap
• A piece of cardboard for the wheels (it should be large enough to fit 4 circles the size of your lid or bottle cap)
• Tape
• 1 balloon
• 2 skewers
• Scissors
• Ruler
• Pencil or pen
• Straws
