Tech Talk with Allan Gray
Mr Barry Jordan – Architect
- Topic: Leveraging Open Source Software
- Synopsis: It has been estimated that Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) constitutes 70-90% of any given piece of modern software solutions. Where did the open source movement come from and how has it evolved over time? Does open source equal free? Not always, and not without conditions. What are the benefits, and what are the pitfalls? It has never been easier, or cheaper, to build software off the back of freely available code. With so many options out there to choose from, what enables us to make well informed decisions around the software we choose to adopt? This presentation aims to answer these questions, arming you with the knowledge to navigate the world of open source software with confidence.
