A scientist from the University of KwaZulu-Natal says a computer model, developed to give the public real-time information on the water quality at six Durban beaches, can be implemented along South Africa’s entire coastline. Dr Justin Pringle, co-director at the Environmental fluid mechanics’ lab says their website, Woz’Olwandle, has, within a short time of its launch, attracted more than four thousand users, who have checked if beaches were safe for swimming or other uses.
