In April, the floods claimed the lives of over 400 people and caused extensive damaged to buildings and homes, leaving thousands displaced. Weeks later, a second bout of heavy rain hit the province causing floods and more damages. The country’s leaders have blamed climate change for the widespread devastation. But is that accurate? We discuss this with Professor Andrew Green – Lecturer in Geology at UKZN and Professor Mohamed Mostafa – Head of Civil Engineering at UKZN.
